City of Great Falls sets public hearing for the FY25 budget

GREAT FALLS, Mont. - City commissioners in Great Falls officially set a date for a public hearing for the Fiscal Year 2024/2025 Budget.  

The public hearing will be held on July 16, 2024 at the regular city commission meeting at 7:00pm.

The fiscal year began July 1 and runs through June 30, 2025.

According to the city, the proposed revenue budget is $40,370,294 and the budget in expenses is $40,814,699; the use of fund balance for FY25 is $444,405.

The city did publish a FY25 budget tool/model where you can play around with the numbers and submit it to the commissioners for review.

It's just one way to make your voice heard; however, money cannot cross fund lines. For example, utility revenue in the Water Fund cannot be used to cover public safety expenses in the General Fund. 

Their overall goals to address in the budget from back in May were public safety, housing, economic development, and the growth plan.
