Firefighters rescue poor pup who got stuck in air vent

A dog that got himself wedged in an air vent at a model village had a miraculous escape when he was rescued by firefighters.

Benny, a Jack Russell, got trapped between the walls of a building at Southsea Model Village in Portsmouth, Hampshire on Dec. 18.

The two-year-old pup had gotten into the hole which was believed to be an old fox den and couldn't emerge on his own.

Fire and Rescue alongside a search and rescue team used specialist equipment to locate and monitor the pooch.

Crews breached the wall to reach Benny and he was rescued unharmed.

A Southsea Model Village spokesperson said: "Today could have ended very differently, and we want to take a moment to sincerely thank everyone involved in Benny’s rescue.

"A huge thank you to Fire & Rescue, whose calm, professional and methodical approach ensured Benny was located, reached and brought out safely.

"From specialist camera equipment to carefully breaching the wall, the operation was handled with absolute care and compassion.

"Thank you to Benny’s owners for their patience and trust during what was an incredibly stressful situation, and to everyone on site who helped secure the area and supported the rescue effort throughout.

"We’re grateful to be sharing these photos with a positive outcome.

Benny is safe, and that’s what matters most.

"Never a dull day at the model village."

Southsea Model Village is a 1/12th scale village built in 1956, located along the seafront.
