A popular Yorkshire pub run by a Michelin-starred chef has launched what it believes to be the U.K.’s first Scotch egg loyalty card.

The General Tarleton is an award-winning village pub in Ferrensby in North Yorkshire, England, which has been revived after being taken over and reopened by Yorkshire chef Tommy Banks in autumn 2025.

And despite serving up food which our reviewer described as “sublime,” it has been the Scotch egg which has become a local legend for visitors to the pub.

Customers have been lapping up the signature Scotch eggs, which are available on the bar menu or as part of the lunch and a la carte menu, and the pub is now going to reward true lovers of the tasty snack.

All they have to do is pick up a card on their next visit, and for every six Scotch eggs they buy, the seventh will be on the house.

A spokesperson for the General Tarleton said: “The cards are a thank you to the regulars who keep coming back for them, and an invitation for newcomers to discover what all the fuss is about.”

Guests can pick up a card from Monday (Oct. 26) at the pub and start collecting now, ahead of The General Tarleton’s Scotch Egg Championships launching in 2027.
