Commercial construction spending has surged to its highest level in over 20 years, exceeding $740 billion in early 2025. But while federal incentives are fueling a wave of new development in key sectors like manufacturing and logistics nationwide, some states are capturing far more of that growth than others. A new report from Twisted Nail identifies the U.S. states spending the most on commercial construction, examining trends in spending over time, growth by sector, and the locations investing the most—and least—relative to their populations.
