Three cousins born on the same day: ‘Truly extraordinary coincidence’

Three cousins were born on the same day - in what a hospital says is ''truly extraordinary coincidence."

Identical twin girls Frankie and Connie were born on February 6 to mom Georgie.

Just hours later, her brother Billy welcomed his own son named Maddox.

Maddox arrived on his due date, while Georgie's twins were born slightly earlier than expected.

The family, from Bridgeyate in South Gloucestershire, described the day as "surreal" and "incredibly emotional."

They thanked the Royal United Hospitals (RUH) Bath NHS Foundation Trust in Somerset for the care received.

Georgie said: “It still feels surreal that we all became parents on the very same day.

"We joked about it happening and then it actually did!

“It was a very emotional day for us all, one our family will never forget.

"It was so special seeing the cousins all together and being able to pop down the hall and see one another on the ward.

“The staff at the RUH have been amazing. They kept us calm, reassured and supported throughout, and we can’t thank them enough for the care we all received.

“We can’t wait for all the joint birthday parties in the years to come!”

A hospital spokesperson described the chances of this "extraordinary" coincidence - noting that identical twins occur in just 1 in 250 births, while only 4-5% of babies are born on their due date.

Maddox' mother Kiera said that the girl cousins are "definitely going to rule the roost."

She said: "He's got an older sister and girl cousins. As you can see, he's loving life.''

Billy told the BBC: "We couldn't believe it. I feel sorry for their nan and grandad having to spend all the money on birthdays at once.''
