U.S. States Where Businesses Are Most Exposed to Cybercrimes

Business cybercrime surged in 2025, with reported incidents rising 18% and losses reaching more than $3.5 billion. But the concentration of reported cybercrime varies considerably from state to state. A new analysis from Opstream examined the newest FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center data to identify where businesses have the highest rates of reported cybercrime. Researchers analyzed business email compromises, data breaches, ransomware, and intellectual property-related offenses, comparing reported victims with the number of businesses in each state.
