(The Center Square) – A U.S. Army Fitness Competition began Saturday's celebration of the 250th anniversary of the military branch, with a parade in Washington D.C. scheduled to close out the day.

Watch as these elite athletes push themselves to the limit, showcasing their impressive physical prowess in a series of grueling challenges. U.S. Army Maneuver Center of Excellence | Talk about a show of force! Yesterday, our units brought their A-game to the #Army250 Birthday Fitness Competition! It was an incredible display of grit, teamwork, and raw power as our finest pushed their limits.
Congratulations to all the teams who competed and truly demonstrated what "Army Strong" looks like. The competition was fierce, but in the end, these units stood above the rest:
🥇 1st Place: 198th Infantry Training Brigade - Crushed it!
🥈 2nd Place: 199th Infantry "Leader Brigade" / Tactical Athlete Performance Center - TAPC H2F Team
🥉 3rd Place: 197th Infantry Brigade - Sledgehammer

In between, music, fireworks and more are planned.
The event coincides with Flag Day and President Donald Trump's 79th birthday.
The parade will include hundreds of tanks, about 7,000 soldiers, flyovers and more.Â
Protests are expected across the country in response to the celebratory events being held in Washington D.C. The No Kings Nationwide Day of Defiance protests put on by progressive groups are expected in more than 2,000 communities across the U.S. to push back against Trump's policies.
