A new novel written by James Patterson and actress Viola Davis is set in the town of Union Springs. 

According to WSFA, the novel is titled "Judge Stone". Probate Judge James Tatum said that the book is an "opportunity to spotlight" Union Springs and "reintroduce" to national and international attention. 

Mayor Roderick Clark has stated that being featured in the book could spark economic development. 

A description of the book says that it is about a judge presiding over an abortion case.
