A new U.S. Attorney has been sworn in for the Middle District of Alabama, succeeding Kevin Davidson.
Thomas R. Govan, Jr. was sworn in on May 29. He was nominated by President Donald Trump and confirmed by the U.S. Senate on May 18.
“I am honored by the trust placed in me to serve as the United States Attorney for the Middle District of Alabama,” he said in a statement. “I look forward to working alongside our outstanding federal, state, and local law enforcement partners to uphold the rule of law, protect our communities, and faithfully serve the people of this district.”
According to the statement he has almost 20 years as a prosecutor in federal, state, and military courts. Previously he served as Chief of the Criminal Trials Division in the Alabama Attorney General’s Office and was Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Middle District.
He holds an undergraduate degree and Juris Doctor from The University of Alabama.
