Old Cahawba Archeological Park has unveiled a restored wellhead from the Perine artesian well, one of its historic features.Â
The park was once the site of Alabama's first capitol. But when the capitol was relocated the town was abandoned and many of its features was moved elsewhere, including nearby Selma, said a post on Facebook.Â
The wellhead was moved to Old Depot Museum before it was handed back over to the area that the park now oversees.Â
"We would like to say thank you to The Cahaba Foundation for making the restoration of this wellhead possible," said the post. "It was restored by Robinson Ironworks located in Alexander City, Alabama."
