Johnny Dave Harris Bush Jr.

Johnny Dave Harris Bush Jr. was one of four inmates who escaped Perry County Correctional Facility.

One of the four escaped inmates from Perry County Correctional Facility was apprehended in Midfield on Sunday afternoon.

Dallas County inmate Johnny Dave Harris Bush Jr. was arrested by Midfield police in the metro Birmingham community at 4:30 p.m. The department was alerted by the Flock camera system that a stolen vehicle had been detected in the 600 block of Bessemer Super Highway, according to al.com.

The car, which is a 2012 Acura, was reported as stolen from American Deli restaurant on Highland Avenue in Selma on Saturday.

Midfield police identified the driver as Bush, one of four inmates who escaped from the Perry County facility in Uniontown. Dallas County has a contract to house inmates there while rebuilding their jail that was damaged in the January 2023 tornado.

Midfield police have charged Bush with receiving stolen property. He will be held in the Jefferson County Jail until he is extradited back to Perry County.

“It is a new day in Midfield we are committed to eradicating any criminal element,” Midfield police posted on social media.
