The Perry County Obama Day will make its return in November after a three-year hiatus, said an announcement from county commissioner Albert Turner Jr.Â
The occasion was put on hold when the COVID pandemic took place. Now the Perry County Obama Day Committee will bring it back later this year.Â
Turner's announcement said that organizers have reached out to Alabama State University Band, Miles College, and Talladega College Bands to headline the parade. They also want to select a Grand Marshall from residents who graduated local schools between 2008 and 2022.Â
The gala is in the works, with Turner anticipating Pastor "Mike" McClure of Birmingham, Lisa Knowles and the Brown Sister of Memphis, Tennessee.
"Negotiations are underway and the audience of this page will influence the final decisions too [sic] who the committee will ultimately choose," Turner said in the announcement.Â
The event is set for Nov. 11 to 13.Â
