The Perry County School District celebrated a new baseball field with a ribbon cutting on the campus of Francis Marion School.
"A huge thank you to our wonderful community and parents that came out to support our student athletes and coaches," said the district's Facebook page.
The field comes at a cost of $2 million and was proposed by former Superintendent John Heard and completed under current superintendent Marcia Smiley.
It is reportedly the first construction on the campus since the Albert Turner, Sr. campus gymnasium completed two decades ago, said an announcement from Perry County Commission Chairman Albert Turner Jr.
He added that lights will need to be installed and that the commission is currently working to get the funding for this project.
