The Perry County Schools system has received its audit from the state, said an announcement from county commission chairman Albert Turner Jr.Â
Turner said that the report was "clean" after it was received at a meeting of the school board on Sept. 25. It was performed by the Alabama Department of Examiners of Public Accounts, which is the legislative audit agency.Â
The audit examined the system's financial status from Oct. 1, 2021 to Sept. 31, 2022. According to Turner the only flaw was an "untimely" reconciliation of a non-federal account that was not done by the accounting practices.
"The State of Alabama praised Dr. Marcia Smiley for the outstanding job she and the Board of Education are doing," Turner said in his announcement. "The State awarded Dr. Smiley 3.7 out of a possible 5.0 points as they evaluated her job as Superintendent of Schools for Perry County."
Turner also said that he presented a check to the school system to be used for the boy's basketball program at Francis Marion School.Â
