The Perry County Water Authority is the largest recipient in the first round of federal Rescue Fund spending, according to a statement on the Facebook page of County Commission Chairman Albert Turner Jr.

The Perry County Commission received $856,500 in May. It has spent $737,599, according to the statement. The Water Authority is the largest recipient of Rescue Funds, receiving $348,316 “to provide hookups to households, repair wells and upgrade the water system,” according to the statement.

The second-largest benefactor has been the employees of Perry County, the statement says. “Chairman Turner wanted to thank the men and women who brave the unforeseen elements of COVID as they face the public every day,” the statement reads. “They risk their lives and those of their family to serve the citizens of Perry County.”
