A spring cleanup event for Perry Lakes Park hosted by the Cahaba River Coalition in Marion is set for March 7 at 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Volunteers are invited to bring brooms, rakes, clippers and battery-powered yard tools. They are also invited to pack a lunch for a picnic at Barton's Beach after the cleanup.

"Help us protect this special habitat while giving back to a place that supports incredible birdlife and biodiversity," said a message from the coalition online. "Together, we can keep Perry Lakes beautiful for birds and birders alike."
