The Perry County Commission has ordered two storms shelters to be installed in in Marion and Heiberger, said an announcement from Commissioner Albert Turner Jr.

The shelters will be constructed by Survive-A-Storm from Georgia. District Two in Marion is represented by Anthony Long and Heiberger is represented by Thomas Harrison.

The cost of the shelters amounts to $70,000 each, including delivery and installation, Turner's announcement said.

The estimated time of completion will be three to six months. The shelters will have a carrying capacity of 96 to 100 people. Additionally, Turner said that the commission is seeking to get a shelter from FEMA to be installed in east Perry County.

Individual storm shelters will be delivered and constructed throughout the county in the coming months, with Turner stating that residents that applied for them will be notified in the next few weeks.
