Pickens County deputies conduct shooter drills at local schools

Deputies of the Pickens County Sheriff's Office have conducted a series of active shooter drills at the local schools. 

A post on the sheriff's office's social media page said that deputies have walked through school buildings during their training and will continue on other campuses in July. 

"This training is essential to ensuring the safety of all students," said a post on social media by Sheriff Jordan Powell. "Being prepared for the possibility of a threat is one of the most important steps we can take to protect our children."

Powell expressed his pride in the deputies who took part in the training.
