The Pike County Sheriff's Office is warning residents after receiving reports about a series of scam callers claiming to be deputies or representatives from the office.

An announcement from Pike County Sheriff Russell Thomas said that callers will request money for missed jury duty, outstanding warrants or fines.

He stressed that residents will never receive requests for money, gift cards, or personal financial information from the office. Anyone who receives a suspicious call is advised to hang up immediately.

Verifying legitimate law enforcement officers can be done by calling the office at 334-566-4347.
