Popular Democracy will bring more than 100 grassroots leaders to highlight its "Defend the 14th Amendment Campaign" promoting contemporary voting rights during the 61st Selma Bridge Crossing Jubilee this weekend.

Popular Democracy Executive Director DaMareo Cooper will speak at the foot of Edmund Pettus Bridge on March 8 at 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. 

Present will be affiliates from Make the Road New York, Texas Organizing Project, New Justice Project, Comunidades Organizando el Poder y la Acción Latina, We Are CASA, SPACEs in Action, Sunflower Community Action, Stand Up Louisiana, Fuerte Arts Movement, and the Alabama Coalition for Immigrant Justice. 

Prior to this event the Freedom Flame Awards Gala will be held at 7 p.m. at the Selma Convention Center on 211 Washington Street.
