The Selma-Dallas County Children’s Policy Alliance (SDCCPA) will be launched tomorrow during a press conference at the Dallas County Courthouse.

SDCCPA was founded by Judge Vernetta Perkins Walker, who also serves as its executive director.

"The mission of the SDCCPA is to unite and mobilize stakeholders to enhance the well-being of children and families in Selma and Dallas County," said a press release SDCCPA.

"Through data analysis, strategic planning, collaborative action and community advocacy, SDCCPA seeks to improve outcomes for youth and create sustainable solutions to systemic challenges."

The launch will be followed on Sunday, March 2, 2025, with "Let’s Be Clear: No Data, No Change," which is a virtual launch event and film screening to be livestreamed on YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram.

"SDCCPA also plans to roll out several programs and partnerships in the coming months, focusing on education, criminal justice, public safety, mental health, and family wellness," the press release adds.

"SDCCPA will also convene The Children’s Policy Council and several breakout Advisory Teams to initiate needs assessments, data analysis, asset mapping, resource identification and strategic planning, culminating in the production of an Annual State of the Children Report which will identify goals and strategies for collective action across 9 facet areas."

The press conference will be held at 12 p.m. at Room 228, second floor of the Dallas County Courthouse.
