The Selma-Dallas County Historic Preservation Society announces the 50th Annual Historic Selma-Dallas County Tour of Homes, highlighting the architectural heritage and enduring history of West Dallas County, March 20-21, 2026.

This tour showcases the scenic countryside divided by the Cahaba and Alabama Rivers an area renowned for its rare and beautifully preserved Plantation Plain “I” house -style homes. Constructed primarily in the early 1800s, these homes represent an increasingly endangered architectural form. In the 1990’s the Alabama Historical Commission identified only 40-50 “I” Houses remaining statewide. The 2026 tour features three exceptional Plantation “I” Houses, offering a rare opportunity to experience these historic structures firsthand.

Bland -Chestnut-Turner (c. 1842) Plantation Style House (1934 HAB Survey)

Ellis -Dunaway -Gardner (c. 1850) Antebellum Style House (1934 HAB Survey)

Mill-Albritton House (c. 1854) Antebellum Style House (1934 HAB Survey)

Molett House (1819-1825) Plantation Style House ((1934 HAB Survey)

Pope-Givhan House (c. 1838) Tide Water Cottage

Tasso (c1830s) The Bower House House at Molette’s Bend, Plantation House

Cochran-Crumpton House at Crumptonia (c. 1855) Antebellum House (1934 HAB Survey)

Vaughan Smitherman Museum: Friday 10 AM – 4 PM; Saturday 10 AM-12 Noon.

Sturdivant Hall: Friday 10 AM-4 PM, Saturday 10 AM -2 PM

Old Cahawba Park: Friday 10 AM-4 PM, Saturday 10 AM-4PM

Selma Art Guild: Saturday 10 AM-4PM
