The Selma-Dallas County Historic Preservation Society announces the 50th Annual Historic Selma-Dallas County Tour of Homes, highlighting the architectural heritage and enduring history of West Dallas County, March 20-21, 2026.
This tour showcases the scenic countryside divided by the Cahaba and Alabama Rivers an area renowned for its rare and beautifully preserved Plantation Plain “I” house -style homes. Constructed primarily in the early 1800s, these homes represent an increasingly endangered architectural form. In the 1990’s the Alabama Historical Commission identified only 40-50 “I” Houses remaining statewide. The 2026 tour features three exceptional Plantation “I” Houses, offering a rare opportunity to experience these historic structures firsthand.
Featured Homes on Saturday March 21 from 10 AM-4 PM will include:
Bland -Chestnut-Turner (c. 1842) Plantation Style House (1934 HAB Survey)
