The Selma Freedom Ride Rally, a four-day event to raise money for an area school, will be held in Selma Sept. 3-6.

“The Selma Freedom Ride Rally was founded with one mission: to unite people while raising at least $100,000 every year to support a deserving school in Selma,” founder and CEO Michael Martin said. “This year’s beneficiary is Southside High School. Every dollar raised will go toward improving educational opportunities, campus conditions and resources for students.”

The event will feature live concerts and comedy shows, the Divine 9 Showcase, a vintage car show, and a motorcycle Freedom Ride to Montgomery, according to Martin.

Home base for the rally will be based on Water Avenue. The live entertainment and the Divine 9 Showcase will be held at the nearby Selma Riverfront Amphitheater. The car show on Saturday, Sept. 5 will be at Lion Park on Dallas Avenue. The freedom ride from Selma to Montgomery will be Sunday, Sept. 6.

Tickets for the four-day event are $50 before Aug. 1 and $75 after Aug. 1.

“Our vision is to establish the Selma Freedom Ride Rally as an annual destination event that honors Selma’s rich Civil Rights legacy while creating economic opportunities for local businesses and making a lasting investment in our children,” Martin said.
