A ninth grader at Selma High School placed third in Rep. Terri Sewell's 2026 Congressional Art Competition.

“We in Alabama’s 7th Congressional District are incredibly fortunate to have such talented young artists!” said Sewell in an announcement. “Once again, I was truly amazed by all 36 submissions, and I am proud of every student who participated this year.”
Eden Smith, a ninth grader at Paul W. Bryant High School in Tuscaloosa, placed first for her entry, "Baptist Church.
In second place was Mya René Parker, a ninth grader at Jefferson County International Baccalaureate School in Fultondale, for "Selma to Montgomery".
Shaderria Woods, a tenth grader at A.H. Parker High School in Birmingham, was in third place for "Reflecting on 2 Educations".
Taylor Crocker, a twelfth grader at Jefferson County International Baccalaureate School, was an honorable mention for "Origins of Alabama".
