The Selma (AL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated will hold a Community Wellness Fair at Gospel Tabernacle Church on Saturday, March 23 at 10 a.m.
"This event is aimed at addressing multiple health, educational and economic disparities that negatively impact the health and quality of life for many in this community," said a press release from the chapter.
"The local event is a part of The Links, Incorporated’s nationwide Black Family Wellness Expos being held across the country during the month of March which aims to leverage its entire membership in the effort to improve outcomes for Black families."
Topics to be covered are: childhood insurance issues; maternal health; breast and prostate cancer awareness; chronic kidney disease; heart health; organ/tissue donor awareness/signup; mental health awareness and resources; CPR Hands-Only; Plant based healthy eating; HIV testing: caregiver resources; financial literacy; voter registration and information, and others.
There will also be mini workshops, free monetary and fresh fruits/vegetables giveaways.
Organizations and other participants are: include Pastor Grayson and Gospel Tabernacle Church, Black K.A.R.E., Rural Health Medical Program, Inc., Dr. Patricia Robinson and Pediatric Adolescent Medicine, Inc., Dr. Daniel Sufficool and Alabama Cancer Center, Dr. Lofti Bashir and Selma Pediatrics, Marcus Williams Insurance Agency, Selma Center for Nonviolence, Truth and Reconciliation, Legacy of Hope, Alabama Dept. of Public Health, Selma University, Alabama Cooperative Extension Agency, City Blocks Wellness, Selma Air, Something Better Lifestyle Improvement Project, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc., Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Nurses’ Corner, Ephiphany, 100 Black Men of Selma and Ford Farms Produce.
The event is free to the public. Gospel Tabernacle Church is located at 2300 Summerfield Road.
