A Selma man died during a single-vehicle accident on Thursday afternoon in Perry County, said a statement from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA). 

According to the statement Everton E. Kirkland Jr., 72, was driving a 2015 Ford Taurus that left the road and struck a fence before overturning a striking a tree. 

Kirkland was transported to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery for treatment but later died. 

The crash took place on Alabama 14 near the 103 mile marker in Perry County, approximately ten miles northwest of Selma.
