Jackson takes the flag

Selma native and U.S. Army Capt. Terra L. Jackson exited command of the 1208th Quartermaster Company and the 1207th Team in Anniston during a change of command ceremony on June 6.

Jackson began her command of the 1208th Quartermaster Company and 1207th Team, an Alabama Army National Guard unit and detachment responsible for water purification operations, in March 2023.

During her command, Jackson was responsible for 120 soldiers and over $55 million in equipment. She led and trained her company on the Tradewinds 2024 Mission (Barbados), a multifaceted international training program focused on combatting organized crime, and disaster relief efforts.

While in command, she also served as the senior instructor for the Alabama Military Academy’s Officer Candidate School, where she trained over 250 soldiers from across the United States.

Jackson received the Army Commendation Medal for her leadership in April.

Jackson is the daughter of Felicia Simpson Jackson and twin sister of Tyra L. Jackson.

Terra Jackson is a doctoral candidate in Auburn University’s College of Human Sciences, where she studies families affected by parental incarceration. She also works for the Marine Corps’ Headquarters as a social science research analyst in the program evaluation and research section.

Jackson is also a founder of the Ola Mae Simpson Memorial Scholarship, a scholarship created to fund educational opportunities to Selma high school seniors heading to college.
