The Selma Police Department will host its second annual bike and toy giveaway July 16 at River Front Park in honor of fallen officer Marquis Moorer.
The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will feature bouncy houses, a splash pad, a live Deejay and a dance-off between the Selma Police Department and the Selma Fire Department.
“We will never forget officer Moorer,” Selma Police Department Lt. Jason Crum said in a statement. “I think it’s only right to make a positive action in his honor. We wanted to interact with the children; we want to see them out and about having fun in the community.”
Anyone who wants to donate cash, a bike, a bike helmet or a toy for the event can drop it off at the Selma Police Department on 1300 Alabama Ave.
Moorer was killed in an ambush on July 27, 2021. Javonte Stubbs, 18, has been charged with capital murder.
