The Selma Redevelopment Authority (SRA) is taking applications for its Façade Enhancement Grant for downtown businesses in the recently approved Main Street District.
SRA is granting funds totaling $20,000 to improve the façades of business in the district that includes the Alabama River north to JL Chestnut and Martin Luther King Street west to Church Street, as well as six contiguous blocks enclosed by Dallas Avenue and Mabry Street.
SRA Chairwoman Martha Lockett said that she was “pleased to announce this reimbursable 2 to 1 matching grant for our downtown businesses and property owners to renovate our historic structures creating a vibrant, clean, appealing downtown.”
She cited an example of matching up to $4,000 of a project cost of $12,000. Reimbursement is capped at $4,000 regardless of the total project's cost.
Applicants that are eligible include property owners, or business owners with a written agreement from the property owner. Business or property owners must be in good standing with the City of Selma Tax & License Department and also must use licensed and insured contractors.
More information about other eligibility requirements can be found here or or email at info@selmara.org. Applications must be completed and returned to PO Box 2604, Selma, AL 36702.
