Gov. Kay Ivey has appointed Vernetta Perkins to serve as District Judge of Dallas County, filling the seat of retiring Judge Bob Armstrong.

On her Facebook page, Perkins thanked the governor but said ultimately it was God’s work.

“I appreciate the faith and support of Governor Ivey, family, friends and supporters. Most of all, I am grateful to God for seeing fit to use me as a tool for equity and justice in our community. May He alone be praised.”
