Selma Vikings semi-pro football team looking to add cheerleaders, dance team

Selma’s spring league football team, the Selma City Vikings, are gearing up for their second season with practice starting this month, and the team’s owners are looking to expand their presence in Selma.

The Vikings’ season starts in March as part of the Amateur to Professional Developmental Football League and they’re looking for more players, help from local coaches and a head coach for a dance team and cheer squad.

Vikings coach and co-owner Tony Broadnax said they are looking for more people to be a part of the Vikings organization. A dance team and cheerleaders are on the list for 2020. To add that, they are looking for a head coach for the squads.

The organization also is inviting local high school bands to play at the home games during halftime. Broadnax pointed out that during regular high school football season, the teams are busy with their own schedules. The Vikings offer an opportunity for players, coaches, bands and fans to experience what is going on at other schools off season.
