Senator Kirk Hatcher, who represents the 26th district, will be the keynote speaker for an upcoming commemoration of Bloody Sunday at First Baptist Church in Selma.

“Senator Kirk Hatcher is one of our nation’s best orators," said Senator Robert Stewart Jr. "As a legislator and educator, his advocacy is aligned with the people of Selma who strive for equity and opportunity for all."

"As a Morehouse man, he shares the same lineage of leadership and collective uplift as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Him being speaker at the Historic First Baptist Church reflects the pride and significance of this occasion, the Selma 60th commemoration. All are in for a treat.”

The event will be held on Sunday, March 9 at 10 a.m. First Baptist Church is located at 709 Martin Luther King Street.
