Downtown Selma

A Sept. 11, 2001, remembrance will be held at the Edmund Pettus Bridge on Thursday morning.

Bruce Holmes Sr., local veteran, is hosting the memorial held to honor the lives lost in the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. It will start at 11 a.m.

The event also will promote unity while recognizing the bravery of area first responders, military personnel, healthcare professionals and everyday heroes.

The gathering will include a moment of silence, words of reflection, and a symbolic walk across the bridge — a place rooted in courage and resilience, Holmes said.

"Let us come together as one nation to remember, reflect, and stand united," he added.

The event is open to all with attendance encouraged from veterans, active-duty service members, retired military, first responders, and healthcare workers.
