Severe storms are possible for much of the state, including the Black Belt, on Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

An enhanced risk category has been issued from roughly half of Dallas County to other counties in the east while the western portion is under a slight risk.

The enhanced category carries the risk of tornados, damaging winds up to 70 mph, and quarter-sized hail. A slight risk carries the same possibilities though winds may be 60 mph.

The public is advised to stay up to date with weather reports and take precautions as needed.
