The severe weather preparedness tax free holiday will start on Friday, Feb. 26 and will last until Sunday, Feb. 28 at midnight.

The holiday allows items related to weather emergencies to be purchased free of taxes. The annual event is now in its 10th year.

The Selma City Council recently voted to exempt a number of weather preparedness items from local sales taxes, including batteries (excluding car or boat batteries), radios, portable light sources, tarps, duct tape, plywood, coolers, fire extinguishers and fuel containers.
