Rep. Terri Sewell (AL-07) has been selected to be co-convener of the House Democrats' Cost of Living Healthcare Working Group that is reportedly working to lower healthcare costs, said a recent announcement.

Sewell was selected by House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries and will work with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14).

“We are grateful that Leader Jeffries has selected us to serve as Co-Conveners of the Cost of Living Healthcare Working Group," said the representatives in a joint statement. "Healthcare costs remain one of the biggest challenges facing working families, and ensuring every American has access to quality, affordable healthcare has never been more important."

The statement notes that Sewell serves on the House Ways and Means Committee, which has jurisdiction over Medicare and other healthcare programs. She also serves as Chair of the New Democrat Coalition Health Care Working Group.

The group will work with the Democratic Caucus, Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Richard Neal (MA-01) and Energy and Commerce Committee Ranking Member Frank Pallone (NJ-06) for policy recommendations that they hope will lower healthcare.
