The Selma Redevelopment Authority (SRA) is seeking a part-time executive director after being designated a Main Street Aspiring Community.

Funding from the City of Selma made the designation possible but SRA is also seeking funding to expand the part-time position to full-time in spring 2025.

A press release from SRA said that the executive director will report to the board of directors through the chairperson.

Qualifications include having at least two years of experience in a similar field along with verbal and written communication skills. They will also need to be a resident of Dallas County, and have knowledge and skills with office procedures, computer software, scheduling, mailing platforms, budgeting, planning, and reporting.

The director will be responsible for coordinating and communicating SRA activities, committees meetings, developing programs, speaking at events and interviews, and attending state and regional trainings throughout the year.

“We really want a self-starter who can build relationships and take this organization to another level with the education that Main Street Alabama provides," said Chairwoman Martha Lockett.

More information about applying for the position can be found at www.selmara.org

“We see many opportunities in downtown Selma and want to be sure that our downtown businesses can use the benefits of the Main Street program to improve their bottom line,” said Lockett. “Hiring an executive director will give us the opportunity to better serve Selma and continue to improve the quality of life here, attracting people and businesses to the heart of our community.”
