A Phenix City woman was arrested July 28 following a fatal shooting at an underage drinking party earlier this month, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
Amber Holly Mott, 40, was charged with a Class B misdemeanor for hosting an open house party after investigators determined she allowed multiple people under 21 to consume liquor inside her residence on July 11, deputies said.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting in the 800 block of Lee Road 197. The incident resulted in the shooting death of 18-year-old Anthony Onochie of Columbus. In the homicide investigation, 18-year-old Raymond Drew Earl of Phenix City has been arrested and charged with murder. He remains jailed without bond, pending an Aniah’s Law hearing.Â
Mott was booked into the Lee County Detention Center and has since posted a $1,000 bond and has been released from custody. Additional charges are expected as the investigation continues.
“If an adult knowingly allows or provides an opportunity for underage individuals to consume alcohol, they are breaking the law,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement, emphasizing that adults should guide youth rather than put them at risk.
Investigators are asking anyone with information about the case to contact the Lee County Sheriff’s Office at 334-749-5651 or Central Alabama Crime Stoppers at 334-215-7867.
