Though they weren't the winners, a team from R.B. Hudson STEAM Academy in Selma was recognized for their submission after Rep. Terri Sewell announced the winners of her 2025 Congressional App Challenge.Â
Representing STEAM Academy were: Jer'Meriyah Burns, Kaitlyn Robinson, Brytania Martinez, and Travis Smith.Â
Their submission was "Healing Our City," described as an app to "connect people, ideas and resources to build a healthier, more sustainable community for all."Â
In her announcement for the winners, Sewell said," The brilliance and creativity of our students never ceases to amaze me."Â
11th graders Dinah Henkin and Greeshma Vinoy of the Alabama School of Fine Arts in Birmingham won for their river conservation app, "Ripple".Â
