StoryCorps in Selma kicked off on Jan. 9 and will continue through Feb. 7 with support from Michael Jordan and the Jordan Brand’s Black Community Commitment organization.
"StoryCorps’ Brightness in Black (BIB) initiative, launched in 2024, is a multi-year initiative that aims to challenge limited and deficit-framed narratives by collecting and sharing authentic stories from the Black community," said a recent press release.
The initiative involves the StoryCorps’ Mobile Booth, which is a mobile recording studio where people can record a 50-minute conversation with someone else or a 20-minute personal story to " preserve authentic narratives that challenge the one-dimensional portrayals of Black life in America," the press release said.
The booth is available at the backlot of the Selma Dallas Library on 1103 Selma Avenue.
