GWC Homes

Selma Police have arrested a suspect in a shooting at GWC Homes on Wednesday.

Residents reported hundreds of bullets were used in the shooting that occurred around noon, but officials say there were no injuries.

Selma Housing Authority CEO Kennard Randolph, who is also Selma City Council president, said in a statement officers arrived quickly at the housing community and secured the scene. One suspect was apprehended. The Selma police department has not released a report as of Wednesday evening.

The Selma Housing Authority said it is grateful that no one was injured but the impact of the shooting extends beyond physical harm.

“While we thank God for physical safety, we recognize that incidents of this nature have a lasting emotional and mental impact on our residents,” Randolph said in a statement. “The fear, the disruption, and the uncertainty caused by violence are real, and we stand with our families as they process and recover from this event.”

Randolph said the agency is taking a firm stance following the incident.

“My priority is and will always be the safety of our residents,” Randolph said. “While we are grateful that no one was physically injured, we cannot ignore the emotional toll that violence takes on our community. Let me be clear—this behavior will not be tolerated in our housing communities.”

Randolph added that the housing authority is continuing to work closely with law enforcement and community partners to ensure accountability and strengthen safety measures moving forward.

The Selma Housing Authority reiterated that the safety of its residents comes first and said it remains committed to providing a secure, stable environment. Officials also called on the community to work together to reduce violence and promote peace among neighbors.
