A suspect in Crenshaw County was arrested after he allegedly entered a home and fired shot inside that led to a hostage situation on Monday morning.Â
The incident reportedly occurred at the 3000 Block of Campground Church Road in the county where troopers from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division, Special Agents from ALEA’s State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), and members of ALEA’s SWAT Team responded at around 11:11 a.m.
The suspect is alleged to have fired at three people inside the residence, though no one was injured. He eventually left the building and was taken into custody, said a statement from ALEA.Â
ALEA identified the suspect as Jerrol Leon McLeod, 62, of Luverne. He has been charged with three counts of attempted murder and first degree burglary. After his arrest he was placed in the Crenshaw County Jail without bond.
"No officers were injured during the course of the incident," said the statement from ALEA. "The scene has been cleared and deemed safe for those who live and travel in the area."
The investigation is reportedly ongoing and no other details were released.Â
