Terri Sewell to announce funding to repave Selma roads, preserve historic Civil Rights sites

Tomorrow Rep. Terri Sewell (AL-07) will announce funding to preserve historic Civil Rights Movement sites and a $2 million investment to repave 59 blocks of roads in Selma. 

At 11:30 a.m. Sewell will present a check for $750,000 from the National Park Service (NPS) to preserve Pollard Hall at Selma University. The funding is part of a $9.7 million initiative for the preservation of structures at Historically Black Colleges and Universities. 

At 1:30 p.m. Sewell will hold a press conference with Delta Regional Authority, Alabama Tombigbee, the City of Selma, and Dallas County officials to announce the $2 million grant to resurface the roads and assist with the continue tornado damage recovery. 

And at 2:30 Sewell will present a $750,000 check to the Historic Tabernacle Baptist Church and members of their Legacy Foundation to preserve the building that played a role in the Civil Rights Movement.
