A man from Troy was sentenced to 210 months or 17 years in prison followed by five years of probation after being convicted for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

An announcement from U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Alabama Johnathan S. Ross said that a trial was held in April where evidence was presented against Emmanuel Youngblood, 34.

Court documents say that officers attempted to stop Youngblood in traffic as he had an outstanding warrant. Youngblood reportedly fled and a brief car chase followed.

"Youngblood eventually stopped the car and fled on foot. Soon thereafter, officers apprehended him," said the announcement from Ross. "When Youngblood fled, an adult female and four small children were left behind in the car."

"During a search of Youngblood’s vehicle, officers found more than half a kilogram of methamphetamine, along with a digital scale and other suspected controlled substances. Investigators found the methamphetamine in a microwave dinner box."

Federal inmates are not eligible for parole, Ross says.

The case was investigated by the Troy Police Department with the Drug Enforcement Administration and prosecuted by the Assistant United States Attorneys Mark E. Andreu and B. Chelsea Wilson.
