The Troy University's (TU) sorority network, the Panhellenic Council, partnered with Alabama Literacy's mascot, SHORT the Squirrel, to distribute books for children in Troy.
The goal was to distribute books in offices and clinics to encourage children to read while waiting.
Books were delivered to the Pike County Child Advocacy Center, Troy Resilience Center, Warren Behavioral Clinic, Kids First Pediatrics, Oak Park Dental, and Vision Center South of Troy.
“The group project allowed our Greek women to collaborate and exercise servant leadership while helping our next generation of readers,” said SHORT the Squirrel co-founder and TU professor Dr. Dee Bennett.
The distribution took place on Oct. 6 and 7 and was part of Panhellenic Spirit Week.
