Two men have been sentenced to 25 years each in prison after they pleaded guilty to being involved in a robbery that led to two deaths at a block party near Alabama State University (ASU) in 2019.
According to a recent announcement from Montgomery District Attorney Daryl Bailey, Anthony Thomas, Jr., and Charlie Jackson reportedly committed a robbery at an outdoor gathering in the 800 block of North University Drive.
During the incident Justin Martin, described as a third assailant, was shot and killed along with Jacquez Hall, who was a victim of the robbery. Two bystanders were shot but survived.
“Four people were shot and two died because of the gun violence running rampant in Montgomery," said Bailey in his announcement. "This has got to STOP. Too many families in our community are suffering because of these senseless murders."
"Let this conviction serve as a stern warning. My team of seasoned prosecutors and investigators and I will use every tool and resource at our disposal to make sure justice is served.”
