Recently the U.S. Department of Labor's Employment and Training Administration announced that it would administer $34.2 million to communities under the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) and the Delta Regional Authority (DRA). 

The aim of the grants is to provide "career and support services to people in the Delta and Appalachian regions so they may secure quality jobs in stable, high-demand occupations," said DRA's Facebook page. 

Eligible applicants include the following: 

  • County governments
  • Independent school districts
  • Nonprofits that do not have a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
  • State governments
  • Special district governments
  • Public and State controlled institutions of higher education
  • Native American tribal governments (Federally recognized)
  • Native American tribal organizations (other than Federally recognized tribal governments)
  • City or township governments
  • Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
  • Private institutions of higher education

The deadline to apply is July 8. See the Grants.gov page for more details.
