The University of Alabama Rural Medical Scholars have set up a GoFundme page to raise $5,000 for a memorial plaque to honor the two Plantersville residents who died in the March 15 tornado.
The historical marker will be placed in Plantersville during a ceremony to "stand as a tribute to the victims and as a symbol of strength, hope, and remembrance for generations to come," according to the GoFundMe page.
The EF-3 tornado ripped through the small north Dallas County town during a line of severe storms on March 15, killing two and destroying several homes.
The plaque is a project of UA Rural Medical Scholars' Class 29 and is in partnership with the residents.
