VRMC Christy Smith

Christy Smith has been named chief nursing officer at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.

Vaughan Regional Medical Center has a new chief nursing officer.

Christy Smith, a registered nurse, with 35 years of service at Vaughan Regional Medical Center, has been promoted to the CNO job. She has served in numerous leadership capacities, including director of Labor and Delivery.

Smith has also provided significant contributions to nursing education and professional development, helping mentor and prepare future generations of healthcare professionals while advancing quality care across the organization. As Chief Nursing Officer, Smith will oversee all nursing operations and clinical care initiatives, working closely with physicians, clinical teams and hospital leadership to advance patient outcomes, strengthen workforce development and support Vaughan's commitment to delivering exceptional healthcare to the communities it serves.

"Christy has been a trusted leader at Vaughan for many years," said Michael James, Chief Executive Officer of Vaughan Regional Medical Center. "While her title may be changing, the influence she has had on our organization is not new. She has consistently led by example, earned the respect of her colleagues, and demonstrated an unwavering commitment to our patients and staff.”

Smith's appointment reflects Vaughan Regional Medical Center's commitment to recognizing exceptional talent from within its own ranks and investing in leaders who embody the organization's mission, values, and dedication to patient-centered care, James said.

"I am honored to serve in this role and continue my journey with Vaughan Regional Medical Center," said Smith. "This organization has been my professional home for 35 years, and I am grateful for the opportunity to lead such a talented and dedicated nursing team. Together, we will continue to provide outstanding care for the patients and families who place their trust in us every day."
