Selma railroad crossings from Boyton Boulevard to Marie Foster Street to be closed Thursday for repairs

Railroad crossings from Boynton Boulevard to Marie Foster Street will be closed Thursday so Norfolk Southern can replace tracks.

Railroad crossings in Selma from Boynton Boulevard to Marie Foster Street will be closed Thursday so Norfolk Southern can replace tracks, according to a statement from Selma Mayor James Perkins Jr.

The crossings will be closed all day or perhaps longer, the statement said.

“The best routes to ensure you can travel north and south in Selma would be Medical Center Parkway or the Bypass until the work is completed on the crossing streets,” the statement said. “Unfortunately, this cannot be avoided, due to the rails being one piece. The rail team will do their best to get the roads reopened as soon as possible.”

“Once the rails are replaced and the crossings paved, we will have a smoother and safer crossing of railways here in Selma,” the statement said.
